JS93: A firm, silky red with beautiful tannin structure and finesse. It’s full-bodied, yet so balanced and refined. Long finish. Solid energy here. Better than the 2018.
WA91: Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 La Commanderie hits the ground running with a highly expressive nose of stewed plums, blueberry pie and boysenberries with hints of violets, star anise, garrigue and unsmoked cigars. The medium to full-bodied palate exudes dark fruit and spicy sparks, framed by chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with a minty kick.
The vines of La Commanderie sit on gravel terraces, where pebbly soils mix with iron-rich sand to produce wines of a very special and refined complexity. This is a superb right bank value, with both structure and finesse. It is medium-to-full-bodied and packed with black and blue fruits, violet and clove.
