The 2022 Bordeaux Vintage Has Arrived!
Les Pucelles is perhaps the most refined and delicate of the Puligny 1er Crus. The walled portion at the northern end, strangely not very well known to collectors, is Chartron’s Clos de la Pucelle. A must-taste, it bursts with yellow flowers, complementing a pastry-like flavor and a creamy texture. Domaine Jean Chartron is one of the prominent, historic landowners in Puligny-Montrachet. It uniquely boasts three prominent walled monopoles: Puligny-Montrache Clos de la Pucelle, Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Caillerets, and Chevalier-Montrachet Clos des Chevaliers. Jean-Michel Chartron now runs the estate with his sister Anne-Laure Chartron Malassagne. They produce generous wines that will make you smile.
VM91-93: The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Pucelle ler Cru is very perfumed on the nose, with scents of orange blossom, peach skin, and hints of hazelnut and lanolin in the background. Fine complexity here. The palate is well-balanced with a waxy texture, well-judged acidity and neatly integrated oak. A little spiciness towards the finish; this lingers temptingly after the wine has exited. A worthy follow-up to the 2021.
