VM94: Ruby-red. Precise, fine, stony aromas of raspberry, rose petal and smoke; totally different from the last sample. Less volume and sheer ripeness, but higher-pitched, stronger in acidity and more sharply defined. Still, this is a big boy. Shows terrific fruit and great finesse through to the very fine, long finish.

WA93: The dark ruby/purple-colored 1997 Latricieres-Chambertin displays floral, lively sweet blackberry, cherry, and plum aromas. On the palate, baked plums, tobacco, spices, and cedar can be found in this concentrated and backward wine. It has superb depth, power, and complexity, yet is presently tightly wound and firm.
