2023 Bordeaux Futures are Live!
A tiny 6-hectare estate, Le Chiuse was split off from the Biondi-Santi estate in 1993 when it was inherited by Simonetta Valiani, the great-granddaughter of Ferruccio Biondi-Santi. It is now considered among Montalcino’s greatest producers. All farming is certified organic.
The Rosso is made from 70% Sangiovese grown around the winery and 30% Sangiovese from the Pullera plot near Biondi-Santi. It is aged 14 months in used, large Slavonian oak casks. Bright, lively, and layered with red berries, violet, and spice.
JD91: A joyful wine, the 2021 Rosso Di Montalcino is exuberant with poppy aromatics of candied cherry, flowers, and cinnamon and is bursting with notes of ripe mixed berries and fruit cocktail. Medium-bodied, with a soft texture and almost Grenache-like ease, on the palate, it reveals notes of wild raspberry and herbes de Provence. It is a lovely wine to drink over the next 6-8 years.
