Paolo Scavino, a historical winery in the Barolo region, was founded in 1921 and remains a family tradition. Winemaker Enrico Scavino began working in the winery at 10 years old and uses 60 years of experience to craft cru-specific wines with brilliant individual styles. Monvigliero comes from the Grand Cru vineyard of Verduno, where warm days and cool nights help produce a very elegant and focused wine.
WS97: Saturated with cherry, raspberry and violet aromas and flavors, this pure and silky red is both elegant and beautifully structured. Very expressive today, already showing harmony and excellent length on the finish, with mineral and underbrush accents adding depth. Best from 2025 through 2042. 600 cases made, 180 cases imported.
JS96: Aromas of slate, raspberry, black cherry and dried strawberry follow through to a full body with firm and linear tannins, and a racy acidity that runs long and bright. Needs time to soften but wonderful length. Drink after 2028.
