VM93-95: The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has a precocious bouquet with layers of opulent blackberry, cassis and redcurrant fruit, crushed violets bursting from the glass. This does not hold back. The palate is sweet and velvety smooth on the entry, fine tannins that frame the intense black cherry and cassis fruit with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. Afford this 5-7 years in the cellar to tame its precocity.
