This wine is a blend of 60% Barbera and 40% Bonarda (Croatina) grapes, which are indigenous to the region and contribute to its unique flavor profile. The Gutturnio Superiore DOC was established in 1967, making it one of the first Italian wines to achieve DOC status, a testament to its historical significance and quality.
The wine is produced by the Bonelli winery, a family-run establishment with a deep commitment to enhancing the Trebbia Valley and its natural resources. Founded by self-taught winemaker Anacleto Bonelli in 1946, the winery is now managed by the third and fourth generations of the Bonelli family. The winery prides itself on its organic practices and its dedication to working exclusively with grapes native to the Colli-Piacentini region.
