A tiny 6-hectare estate, Le Chiuse was split off from the Biondi-Santi estate in 1993 when it was inherited by Simonetta Valiani, the great-granddaughter of Ferruccio Biondi-Santi. It is now considered among Montalcino’s greatest producers. All farming is certified organic.
The Rosso is made from 70% Sangiovese grown around the winery and 30% Sangiovese from the Pullera plot near Biondi-Santi. It is aged 14 months in used, large Slavonian oak casks. Bright, lively, and layered with red berries, violet, and spice.
JD92: A bright ruby color, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino displays the more spicy character of this vintage and leads with notes of anise, raspberries, and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, it has a touch of youthful astringency but will be ready to go in a few months when it's released in February of 2025.
