The 2022 Bordeaux Vintage Has Arrived!
WA93: From bottle, the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis, cherries, black truffle, rich loamy soil and toasty new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and generous, with a lavish core of succulent fruit cloaking its fine tannic chassis, its balance and energy alike promising long evolution in bottle. As is usually the case chez Serafin, this will demand a bit of bottle age to integrate its new wood, so purchasers should count on the better part of a decade's patience.
VM92-94: Good dark red. Complex nose melds plum, black raspberry, spicy oak and violet, plus a hint of purple fruits. Suave, silky, highly concentrated wine with captivating soil-driven flavors of black raspberry, violet and mocha. Finishes spicy and very long, with a superb spine of acids and fine-grained tannins. Really spreads out to saturate the palate, with lingering floral and spicy notes providing lift.
