VM92: The 2021 Barolo is a pretty powerful, deep wine from Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno. Dark red cherry, spice, orange peel and cedar lend notable aromatic presence, but I am most struck by the wine's textural resonance. This is impeccably done.
JD91+: Pouring a youthful red color, the 2021 Barolo is not shining as brightly at this tasting and has more muted notes of mushroomy earth, worn leather, raspberries, and thyme. The palate is elegant and finessed with notes of apricot floral tones coming through, and it has ripe tannins and an elegant feel floating through the finish. The palate suggests there’s more to this wine, and it would be great to taste this again if possible. Drink 2025-2035.
