A 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sourced from the tiny 0.9-hectare Les Crayons vineyard, situated on pure chalk. First bottled in 1982, it is named after the current generation's great-great-great-grandfather, Louis, who planted the vines. Benoît Tarlant and his sister Mélanie are now the 12th generation to run this family estate. This cellar release was bottled in 1997, disgorged in 2023, and released in 2025. Zero dosage.

"The 1996 Champagne Cuvée Louis Tarlant Brut Nature is crafted from clay subsoils and exhibits both concentrated fruit and high freshness. This is not an enothèque release – it's the first time they are releasing this wine. Full and round, it’s incredible on the nose, with apricot, croissant, and fresh nuttiness; it’s so good.
