Named after Alto Otero, a beautiful local enclave, Altos Ibéricos is also inspired by one of the region’s most iconic species: the Iberian ibex or wild goat.
The Crianza is sourced predominantly from Rioja Alavesa, the coolest of Rioja’s subregions, this 100% Tempranillo displays naturally higher-toned acidity. The vines are 60-80 years old on average and some of the oldest in Rioja, providing low yields of concentrated fruit. It is aged 12 months in used French and American oak barrels.
Savory red plums with a touch of oranges and iron. Medium-bodied with juicy, plummy fruit, firm tannins and a medium-length finish. (James Suckling, 90 Points)
