The Labruyere family established Domaine Labruyere in 1850 in Beaujolais. The family now has 4 estates, including their property in Champagne in the picturesque Grand Cru village of Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. Prologue is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from their Grand Cru vineyards. Look for subtle toasty aromas, dried fruits, and roasted hazelnut. This is beautifully structured and full of energy. Sustainable.
JS92: An uncompromising Champagne for a non-vintage wine with a lot of smoky character woven between the orange fruit. Concentrated and structured, but beautifully balanced, the mineral acidity and fine mousse counterbalancing the richness. Breathtakingly long complete finish in spite of being bone dry. A cuvee of 69% pinot noir and 31% chardonnay from Verzenay and Verzy based on the 2018 vintage with reserve wines from 2016, 2015 and 2014. 20% of the base wine was vinified in oak casks, with almost no dosage. Drink or hold.
