The 2021 Barolo Rocche Dell'Annunziata is a medium red color and offers gorgeous, pure aromas of anise, fresh cherries, pressed flowers, wet stones, and graphite on the nose. A powerful vintage, but within La Morra, it has real structure, with velvety, ripe tannins, fully dry, even acidity, and a long finish, with just a hint of sunny darker fruits and purple flowers. Since I last tasted this a year ago, it’s come into focus and offers lots of clarity. It will likely continue to improve over the coming 20 or more years.

JS96: A complex wine with aromas of licorice, cinnamon, red currants and sweet violets. Full-bodied on the palate, it shows elegant, velvety tannins of rare finesse at this point of evolution, with long, refreshing acidity and a lavish finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2026 or 2027.
