Domaine Roblet-Monnot, led by Pascal Roblet, traces its roots in Volnay back centuries. Pascal is an innovative, dedicated vigneron who has transformed the estate into a leader of biodynamic viticulture. He uses horses to plow the vineyard, meticulously harvests at incredibly low yields, and adheres to a traditional, minimalist approach in the cellar. All his wines are unfined and unfiltered, undergo a long élevage (18–24 months) in large, used oak barrels, and contain no added sulfites. The resulting Pinot Noirs are profoundly deep, structured, and built for aging, offering a pure and powerful expression of Volnay and Pommard's classic limestone terroir.
If the Taillepieds is brooding and muscular, Roblet's 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Pitures is elegant and ethereal. Offering up aromas of cherries and red berries mingled with rose petals, exotic spices and smoked duck, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with a multidimensional core of fruit, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish.
